Height and Weights for Teen Girls
Age Range Height Weight Percentile

14-15 years63 – 64 inches105 – 115 lbs 50%
16-17 years64 inches 115 – 120 lbs 50%
18-20 years64 inches 125 – 130 lbs50%

So about 13 to 18 pounds to reach your goal. No sodium No Fried foods. Some fruit (Because of the sugar intake) Protein Foods
Most protein foods, such as meat, seafood and eggs, have little or no carbohydrate. However, there are some things to watch out for. Check out Protein Foods on a Low Carb Diet for details.
Vegetables
The bulk of the carbohydrate in the diet comes from vegetables. It is important to know the carbohydrate counts of the vegetables you are eating. 12-15 grams per day (not counting fiber) should come from vegetables. Low Carb Vegetable List
Cheeses
Most cheeses have less than a gram of carbohydrate per ounce, but check labels carefully, as some have more. Atkins allows 3-4 ounces per day during induction. Cream cheese included, but specifically not cottage cheese, farmer’s cheese, or other fresh cheeses.
Fats and Oils
People embarking on the Atkins eating plan are cautioned not to attempt to do a low-fat version of the diet. Adequate fat content is vital to the success of the diet. Atkins advises eating a balance of natural fats, and no trans fats at all. Here are some of the things Atkins says about fats and oils:

* Eat plenty of cold water fish and other foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids (but if pregnant be aware of FDA guidelines about fish consumption).
* Olive oil, especially those labeled virgin or extra-virgin, should be emphasized.
* For stir-frying, canola, peanut, and grapeseed oil are recommended, especially if "cold-pressed" or "expeller-pressed".
* Avoid corn, soy, safflower, and sunflower oil except in small amounts, and not heated (these have high amounts of Omega-6 polyunsaturated fat). Again, cold-pressed or expeller-pressed oils are recommended. [Note from Laura: sunflower and safflower oils are now available made from seeds bred to have high levels of monounsaturated fat, and low levels of polyunsaturated Omega-6 fats. These are usually labeled "high oleic".]
* When choosing mayonnaise, choose regular full-fat mayonnaise, preferably using the guidelines above for types of oils used.
* When choosing salad dressings, the same rules apply, and watch for added sugars.
* Butter and other sources of saturated fat (e.g. coconut) are acceptable, but again should be eaten in balance with other fats.
* Don’t use margarine unless it is trans-fat free.

Beverages
Water is the vastly preferred beverage. Atkins advises 8 8 oz glasses per day. If you are hungry and it isn’t a mealtime, try drinking water first – you might just be thirsty. Soda water or carbonated water with sugar-free flavorings are OK.

Do not drink any beverage with sugar in it, including juice and cider. Herbal teas, or decaffeinated coffee or tea are good choices, although some people can get away with drinking caffeine (you have to experiment to see if it triggers cravings or slows weight loss). Diet sodas sweetened with sucralose (Splenda®) are acceptable. Clear broths are usually very low in carbs (but, as always, read labels).
Special Additional Foods
Small daily amounts of the following foods can be added (count the carbs):

* 2-3 tablespoons of lemon or lime juice
* 2-3 tablespoons of heavy cream or one ounce of sour cream
* 10-20 olives
* half a small avocado
* controlled-carb convenience foods, such as low carb snack bars

Extra Fiber
Atkins recommends psyllium (the main ingredient in Metamucil® and other fiber supplements) and flax seed meal for more fiber.
Sugar Substitutes
Atkins prefers sucralose (Splenda®). Small amounts of saccharine (such as is in Sweet N Low®) are acceptable. Note that the powdered forms of these sweeteners have added carbs, usually 1 grams per packed. Where to Find Liquid (No Carb) Sources of Sucralose (Splenda®)

What sort of fruit and veggies can I feed to my fish? Siamese Fighter (betta) Guppies, Tetra, Pleco etc?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

ANd how do you prepare them? Do you cook and shell peas then crush them up? Do they pollute your tank?

You should feed your Betta a unfrozen and un-shelled pea once a week to help with their digestive system. Just a tiny piece of it though. And plecos can eat many different types of vegetables. I wouldn’t suggest feeding them fruit. You can feed plecos cucumber seeds, peas, squash, and other foods like that. I wouldn’t feed you guppies and tetras and vegetables or fruit. Hope this helps!

will i lose 30 pounds fast if i eat fish fruit jog do crucnhes (20) and drink ice water everyday?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Understand that as time gradually builds, you burn less calories with certain exercises because your body adjusts to the intensity and learns to retain energy. You would have to jog a little more every week, but remember that length is more important than distance. First work on endurance, then speed.

It depends, really. It seems you’re planning to cut sugary snacks and salty snacks, which is good.. they’re not good for you. Fish alone may not be enough protein, and it’s important not to overexert yourself, so you may have to eat fish with another kind of meat, or tofu. Ice water would help your body burn more calories, but drink at least 6 – 8 cups a day.. I drink warm water if I cannot take it.

Crunches are good; sit ups hurt your back. I would do crunches while lifting both your legs up in a cross position. I would gradually increase how many I do every week or so.

I’m not sure if you’d lose 30 pounds fast, but you would lose more weight. So one rule is to maybe implement a morning/afternoon walk as well, just to keep you on your feet. You can hit the gym to do the elliptical, or take up swimming if you know how to swim. Most of all, keep your diet above 1200 calories, because anything below 1200 is a deficiency. Do not ignore breakfast, either: it is the most important meal of the day. Eat most of your nutrients before dinner, and try not to eat after 5 or 6. Eat in portions if you can, and prepare what you want to eat the next day beforehand. This will help keep you in control.

I need to find information on fish that are called " assorted fruit tetras fish " I need pic if possilbe.

Monday, March 1st, 2010

someone bought me 3 fish for my tank they are small and one is purple- one is pink – one is green, I was told they were called
" assorted tetras fish " but I can’t find any pictures of them to prove just what kind of fish they are, and I don’t know how to take care of them, they were bought at wal-mart, in indiana

Here’s a good website to get you started:

http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/tetrafish/

If you do a google search, tons others will come up as well.

I have a few different types of tetras, and they all pretty much require the same care.

Be careful if they were bought at wal-mart. Walmart hardly has healthy fish, and the several dozen or so aquarists I’ve talked to have never been able to keep walmart fish of any kind alive because they simply are full of diseases and not cared for properly.

People should NOT be buying other people fish as gifts, especially if that person doesn’t even know how to care for fish. It’s too late for that now, though.

At the very least, you need to start doing some research and will have to purchase a whole tank set up (one with a filter, heater, air pump, substrate, plants, rocks, etc) if you want those fish to have a chance. A whole set up will probably cost you $60 – $100. If you don’t have that kind of cash, your best bet is to return them. (You probably don’t want them anyway because if you intend on keeping other kinds of fish, they could spread disease throughout your tank)

Where is the next food source for your people when you have depleted the fruit bush and can’t fish yet?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

This is on the Virtual Villagers game- where is the food source now?

You need to get enough points for Level 2 Farming before you run out of berries on your bush — from there you can farm the fertile soil just south of the Research table.

Dedicate all of your Villagers except one to Research in order to get enough points to make sure you can get Level 2 Farming before your berries run out. The one Villager that isn’t researching should be your Farmer who will forage for the berries that the rest of the Villagers need to survive.

Also, if you’ve bred a child, make sure you keep your eyes open for the mushrooms, they do help with your food supply… The red mushrooms offer more points than the others.

And don’t be in a hurry to breed too much before you reach at least Level 2 of Farming… Children eat just as much as adults do and the kids can’t do anything until they are 14 (at which time they can work — they have to be 18 to breed)
