Namaste!
I’m Nina and this is a great way to use your pulp from the juicer. I love juicing and I hate wasting food.
Pulp can be used to thicken stews and soups. You can use pulp for spreads on your crackers and breads. You can also use pulp to bake into your bread!
I love doing the above, but, for the children in our lives, the fruit leathers or “roll-ups” are fun and tasty.
The time it takes to make the leather is variant depending on the overall humidity, the machine, you elevation, and the thickness of your pulp and its water content.
Add a little lemon juice and stir to keep fruits from browning. You can also use pectin…or nothing at all. Browning isn’t going to take away the taste; I just looks pretty with brighter colors.
Only add a little bit of lemon or lime juice…like a 1/4 teaspoon.
Spread your pulp evenly on a piece of foil, wax paper or cling wrap that was already arranged on your dehydrator shelf.
Turn on your dehydrator and check the food hours later. The longer you dry food, the firmer it will be, the idea is to have this fruit and vegetable leather to be soft and pliable; so, use your discernment on the amount of time.
Only fresh cut fruits and vegetables take a longer time (24 hours in some cases), pulp usually takes about 1/4 of that time or much less.
I only made a small amount for this video, but, if I were to have filled all 4 or 5 racks, I may have needed to keep food on there for the entire day.
Please contact me with your comments and questions.
Thanks for watching
and thank you so much for your
encouragement!
Nina

I have begun making a ‘tea’ tonic using bulk pau d’arco, cats claw and chaga, which prompted me to find and harvest this powerful healing mushroom (chaga) for my own use. It is amazing the amount of useful plant life that is available for free if you simply take the time to learn the benefits of that plant life growing in your area. This harvest was all within minutes of my home.

Simply the best collection of producers of food and drink ever assembled in the UK. “The Real Food Festival was every bit as diverse and exciting as I had hoped. At long last, we have a national stage for the small producer, more concerned with flavour and sustainability than bagging a quick buck. It showed that British artisan producers as well as those from around Europe are thriving and there is a proper market for real, slow food. This is good news not just for these farmers and producers but for our taste buds and bellies too”
